MEMBERS' ONLY EVENT
On Monday August 23 at 4pm:
Joanne McFarland, Senior Project Officer, Assessment Quality and Innovation at NESA, will be explaining the HSC marking and moderation process, including the attribution of bands to candidates, and Trudy Noller, Community Engagement Manager at UAC will talk on the ATAR calculation, including scaling.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions to the presenters, and we encourage you to send some of the questions you might already have when registering to participate using this link.

Dear colleagues,
We are excited to announce the latest initiative for professional development this year by our association: a professional reading book club!
We will start it with the latest book from Gianfranco Conti and Steve Smith called “Memory: What every language teacher should know”.
The idea is to discuss 4 chapters each meeting before having a final meeting with Conti himself in Spanish.
The dates for these meetings are as follows:
- Thursday August 5, 4 30 to 5.30 pm (discussion on chapters 1 to 4)
- Tuesday September 14, 4 30 to 5.30 pm (discussion on chapters 5 to 8) **UPDATED**
- Thursday October 7, 4 30 to 5.30 pm (discussion on chapters 9 to 12)
- Thursday November 4, 4 30 to 5.30 pm(discussion on chapters 13 to 16)
- Wednesday December 1 (4 to 6pm final meeting with Conti)

This year once again STANSW is offering a Practice Speaking Day for your HSC (Beginners, Continuers, Extension courses) and IB Diploma Ab Initio students.
Date: Saturday June 5 (Term 2, week 7).
Time: 10am to 3pm
Cost: $5 per student (covers the price of 2 practices per student and needs to be paid in advance via the association’s website, NOT on the day).

- Continuers: 10am – 12pm
- Ab Initio: 10am – 12pm
- Beginners: 1pm- 3pm
- Extension: 1pm-2:30pm
