The Spanish Teachers’ Association of NSW is excited to announce a 4-hour workshop with (Easy-to-Read Literature for Spanish Language Learners) author and TPRS specialist Margarita Pérez García.
Margarita Pérez García is a Venezuelan author of Easy-to-Read literature. Margarita holds two master’s degrees in Spanish Language and Spanish and Latin American Literature. She is a teacher of Spanish and French with over 25 years of experience. She has taught languages at all levels, from primary through secondary and higher education, in Venezuela, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. Nowadays, she is based in Australia where she teaches languages with comprehension-based methods. Margarita is passionate about supporting students with reading difficulties. She writes fiction and non-fiction that beginners and struggling readers can really read. Margarita writes easy-to-understand stories about Venezuela’s natural beauty and diverse wildlife, natural disasters, and the human environmental impact. She writes fiction based on real stories, animal fiction and fantasy combining conservation themes with myths and legends of indigenous cultures. Margarita is a founding member of Acento Latino Libros™, a collective of independent Latin American authors who write easy readers for Spanish language learners. She authored several books under 100 unique words ideal for level 1 students such as Juliana, Itipurú y el monstruo del océano, Mosca, ¡¡Mosca!!, Mosca en leche and Arroz con cosas. Margarita’s workshop will be relevant to primary and secondary teachers. Registrations for this event have now closed. Date: Friday October 6.
